Where did original cell get the DNA? (assembly instructions)

The article below this one, is from www.ICR.org . It reminded me of a

couple of days ago.

I was tracking back a large number of hits to this website, to see where

and why they were coming from this other site. It turns out the hits (negative),

were coming from a communist site all a twitter because we had posted

a pro creationist piece at some time. So they had a link to Iowa JBS.

It all stemmed from some article from Charles Krauthammer, a pro

evolutionist evidently. It reminded me of when I had seen the DVD,

Unlocking the Mysteries of Life. Michael Behe was a force behind it.

He had had the audacity to point out, that proteins (or enzymes, whichever

they are), do not assemble willy nilly, in fact, they need a rather

long and complicated instruction manual called DNA.

In the DVD, using incredible graphics, they give the layman an idea

of what it takes to assemble one enzyme/protein, let alone an entire

CELL!

Then, they have the chutzpah to point out the silliness of the

Darwinist/Evolutionist idea, that this primordial goo existed,

with various chemicals in it, and a bolt of lightening hit it,

and VOILA! Life was created! Ha.

In the DVD, Unlocking the Mysteries of Life, it is shown quite clearly,

that chemicals do not just begin their incredible interwoven coming

together without DNA, which is akin to a code length similar to an

entire encyclopedia Britannica for just one cell!

This minor little stumbling block, has caused the Evolutionists

main mouth piece, Richard Dawkins, to explain that life was brought

here from outer space by little green men.

[ But the funniest part about going to the communist site where the hits

came from, was the incredible venom, vitriol, and invective towards Creationists!

No substantive argument for their position, like I just put forth,

but just this total loathing and hatred for the other side without

any factual refutation! ]

{Oh, and God provided the instructions for the first cell, and all cells, in

fact, nothing has been created without Him. John Ch 1 v 3:

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that

was made. }

Claims of God in the Prophets

"Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he." (Isaiah 41:4)

Major portions of the Old Testament prophetic writings consist of verbatim quotations from God recorded by the prophets under divine inspiration. Included are many tremendous claims made by God to encourage His people to trust Him under all circumstances, and these are all needed today as never before.

In the Book of Isaiah, for example, there are 35 "I am" statements made by the Lord. Amazingly, however, none of them are in Book 1 of Isaiah (chapters 1-39); they are all in Book 2 (chapters 40-66). The first is the text above: "I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he" (41:4).

Look at some others--all wonderful testimonies of God.

"Before the day was I am he" (43:13).

"I am he that blotteth out thy transgressions" (43:25).

"I am the LORD that maketh all things" (44:24).

"Even to your old age I am he" (46:4).

"I, even I, am he that comforteth you" (51:12).

"I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer" (60:16).

There are also 21 "I am" statements by the Lord in Jeremiah, but these all apply primarily to His dealings with the Jews of that day. Surprisingly, Ezekiel has more "I am's" than any other book. "I am the LORD" occurs 70 times in his prophecy alone. Also in Ezekiel is this testimony: "I am their inheritance: . . . I am their possession" (Ezekiel 44:28). Finally, there are 21 more "I am" assertions by God in the other, smaller prophetic books, with the last being Malachi 3:6: "For I am the LORD, I change not."

Putting several of these assertions together, we can hear Him say, "I am your Savior and Redeemer, before the day was, even to your old age, and I change not!" HMM

The Just shall live by Faith

The Just Shall Live by Faith

"Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." (Habakkuk 2:4)

This great principle--"the just shall live by faith"--was the Scripture that so inflamed the soul of Martin Luther that it became the watchword of the Reformation. It occurs first here in the small prophecy of Habakkuk, but is then quoted three times in the New Testament. The term "just," of course, means "justified" or "righteous." God says a person is enabled to live righteously by his faith.

The nature of this faith is clarified by three quotations: The first is Romans 1:17: "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." The phrase "from faith to faith" means "from the beginning of faith to the end of faith," and the context indicates that the foundational item of faith is faith in "his eternal power and Godhead," which "from the creation of the world are clearly seen" (Romans 1:20).

Similarly, in the last occurrence: "Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him" (Hebrews 10:38). Then the writer notes that the basic item of faith is special creation: "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrews 11:3).

The middle occurrence is Galatians 3:11: "But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith." Paul's lengthy explanation to the Galatian legalists begins with Galatians 2:16: "Even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ." Thus, justifying, saving, living faith begins and centers in Jesus Christ, first as Creator of all things, then as the Savior who "hath redeemed us from the curse of the law" (Galatians 3:13). HMM

Lake of fire

"Moreover |King Ahaz| burnt incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel." (2 Chronicles 28:3)

This horrible pagan ritual of child sacrifice finally ceased when good King Josiah "defiled" this Valley of Hinnom "that no man might make his son or daughter to pass through the fire to Molech" (2 Kings 23:10). The image of Molech, with its outstretched arms forming a ring of fire through which the children were made to pass, was broken to pieces and the valley itself became the dumping ground for all the garbage of Jerusalem, which was kept burning continually in the narrow deep valley so that it had the appearance of a veritable "lake of fire." As a result the valley's name of Hinnom (Greek, gehenna) came to be regarded as the name of "hell"--the place of everlasting fire where lost souls go after death.

The concept of hell and its eternal fires is a very unpopular subject in the modern world, ridiculed by skeptics and largely ignored even by evangelicals. Nevertheless, Christ Himself referred to it many times. For example: "If thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched" (Mark 9:43). To the unsaved, He will say, "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41). The term "lake of fire" is used five times in Revelation to identify the eternal prison of the devil and "whosoever was not found written in the book of life" (Revelation 20:15).

The location of the lake of fire cannot now be known; it may even be a star. In any case, it is very real, according to the Lord Jesus, who has "delivered us from the wrath to come" (1 Thessalonians 1:10). HMM

ICR June 27- 'Satan's Strategic Plan'

Satan's Strategic Plan

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." (2 Corinthians 11:3)

The magnificent book of Genesis sets the foundation for Scripture, revealing the "Roman numerals" upon which the rest of the Bible's message is built. Apart from the actual events of the creation week, the fall of Adam and Eve, and the subsequent horrific growth of sin and the awful judgment of the Flood, the gospel message would make little sense.

Paul's warning showcases the importance of Satan's strategy to ensnare humanity in the same trap. The Devil's tactics change with time and culture, but the strategy remains the same.

First, Satan always attempts to make us doubt the Word of God (Genesis 3:1). If we question the accuracy, the meaning, the authenticity, the historicity, or any other shade of "all scripture" (2 Timothy 3:16), then we begin edging onto a slippery slope that will only lead to the next stage.

Second, Satan always confronts the doubter with a denial of the Word of God (Genesis 3:4). When one begins to deny the authority, the capability, or the will of God to carry out His Word, the slide into the final phase is inevitable.

Third, Satan ultimately heaps denegration on the Person of God Himself (Genesis 3:5). Once one embraces the thought that the Word of God is not trustworthy and that God either will not or cannot do what He says, it absolutely follows that God is either a liar, a hypocrite, or a capricious and whimsical ogre.

May God protect us from the "wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). HMM III

Identifying Antichrists

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." (1 John 2:18)

Evangelicals expect "the" Antichrist to be revealed in the future, yet there are more warnings about "many" antichrists who are currently and actively plotting evil. John lists two specific identifying factors that enable us to spot these "anti" Christs.

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son" (1 John 2:22).

"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist . . . and even now already is it in the world" (1 John 4:3).

This much is clear. Anyone who refuses to accept the incarnated Christ as the Son of God is anti-Christ. Perhaps we need to see this term in its simplicity. Those who are "anti" Christ (oppose, reject, against, opposite to, before, instead of, in place of) are antichrists!

Peter warns that false prophets and false teachers are also "anti" Christ--and that they may well come from among the Lord's visible Kingdom.

"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction" (2 Peter 2:1).

Thus, we are told that Satan's "ministers also |are| transformed as the ministers of righteousness" (2 Corinthians 11:15). No wonder we should have caution. This is the last time (days) and we need to be alert! HMM III

Carest Thou Not?

"And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?" (Mark 4:38)

There are times when we have great problems and God seems to ignore our prayers, and finally we begin to wonder if He cares about us at all. There is no need to wonder. God cares about the sparrow, and He surely cares about His own dear children. If there is not some clear reason why He fails to answer (such as sin in our lives), then perhaps it is simply (as in Job's case) a test of our faith.

When the disciples thought Jesus didn't care, He rebuked them thus: "Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?" (Mark 4:40). Mary and Martha sent word that their brother Lazarus was deathly ill, but then Jesus "abode two days still in the same place where he was" (John 11:6). When the sisters complained about His delay, He replied: "Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?" (John 11:40).

One day a woman of Canaan cried out to Him for mercy on her for her demon-possessed daughter, "but he answered her not a word." He seemed not to care, but she kept calling on Him and worshipping Him, until He finally said unto her: "O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt" (Matthew 15:23, 28).

The disciples and the sisters of Lazarus and the Canaanite woman all wondered at His seeming lack of concern, but He did care. He finally calmed the storm, and raised Lazarus, and healed the daughter. His delay was in order to test and strengthen their faith.

Can He not also test us, "that the trial of your faith . . . though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 1:7)? HMM

ICR Days of Praise: The Last War

The Last War

"And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army." (Revelation 19:19)

The end of World War I, the "war to end all wars," as it was once called optimistically and utterly unrealistically, came finally on November 11, 1918, called Armistice Day at the time, and Veteran's Day in the years since World War II. We consider our nation a peace-loving nation, yet we have been involved in the War of Independence, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, and currently the strange War against Terror, not to mention a number of local skirmishes (Tripoli, various Indian "wars," Bosnia, etc.) and the Cold War.

It is probably true that there has been at least one local war going on somewhere in the world every year since history began. But one day a war to end all wars will really take place, the great War of Armageddon. This is the war mentioned in our text which also contains the next-to-last mention of war in the Bible. At that time, drawing nearer day by day, Satan will muster all the armies of the nations for one final great assault against Christ and the armies of heaven.

The battle will not last long. All the devil's hosts will be instantly slain by the verbal sword of the Man on the white horse, and Satan thrown into the abyss of Hades.

Yet there is still one more "battle" (same Greek word as "war") when Satan is released for a time and allowed to "deceive the nations" once more. He will "gather them together to battle" against God one final time (Revelation 20:8). But the fire of heaven will destroy them, and the nations shall never "learn war any more" (Micah 4:3). HMM

Dallas, April 25, 2008 - Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Commissioner Raymund Paredes on Wednesday recommended that the Institute for Creation Research Graduate School (ICRGS) be denied a Certificate of Authority to grant degrees in the state. On Thursday, the Board voted unanimously to accept Paredes' recommendation.

Paredes issued his recommendation, formulated in advance, despite the approval of both the THECB Site Team, which evaluated the ICRGS in November 2007, and the THECB Advisory Committee that affirmed the Site Team's approval in December 2007. He rejected both reports as "flawed" and instead convened a separate panel of scientists and science educators that advised him not to approve the ICRGS application. ICRGS scientists and faculty were not included in or allowed to respond to this panel.

On Thursday, Joe Stafford, Assistant Commissioner for Academic Affairs and Research, read into record a Texas Education Code statute about preventing public deception in the face of "fraudulent" or "substandard" college and university degrees. ICRGS representatives present at the meeting were not allowed to respond to this mischaracterization of the graduate program.

The manner in which the hearing was conducted was characterized by viewpoint discrimination. Prior to Wednesday's consideration of the ICRGS application, THECB committee chairperson Lyn Bracewell Phillips allowed public testimony for 30 minutes on the ICRGS application. Several political activists, including Steven Schafersman--who had evidently not reviewed the ICRGS application materials--launched ad hominem attacks against the credibility and reputation of the ICRGS and its faculty.

Critics have attempted to draw false associations between the ICRGS program and attempts to introduce religion into taxpayer-funded public schools, even though the ICRGS is a private postgraduate institution seeking to train science educators for private schools.

Questions have surfaced concerning the treatment of the ICRGS application by THECB officials and whether Commissioner Paredes and his agency altered the normal process of application review because of external pressures based on ideological biases against the ICRGS.

Under Texas law, the ICRGS may appeal the decision of the Commission or seek other remedies as appropriate.

'Expelled' - ISU looks like idiots (not a first)

Expelled played to a sold out audience its first night here in

Ames. Tonight's crowd at the 4:40 showing was good also. I

can imagine what the 7:10 show will be like.

If you are looking to have this documentary "prove" the case

for Intelligent Design, you have come to the wrong place.

What this film is mostly about, is proving the obvious, academic

freedom does not currently exist. Darwinism is the only acceptable

belief.

Here in Ames, everyone is aware of Prof Gonzalez, who is

featured in the film, whose tenure was burned at the stake by

the flat earth group. To think Iowa State fired an intellectual

giant like that, and keeps on a moron like Avalos, is just

staggering. One of the consequences when truth no longer matters.

I hope it gets the numbers to make a statement. On the other hand,

God's will, will be done, regardless of our machinations.

He, and His creation, will be just fine.

D.C. police set to monitor 5,000 cameras

Washington D.C. officials are giving police access to more than 5,000 closed-circuit TV cameras citywide giving the District one of the largest surveillance networks in the country. "The primary benefit of what we're doing is for public health and safety," said Darrell Darnell, director of the city's Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. But Art Spitzer, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of the National Capital Area and others have concerns. "You put a camera here, it's not so bad, you put a camera there, it's not so bad. But then it turns out all the sudden, we find out there are 5,200 cameras."

The Privileged Planet / Unlocking the Mystery of Life

The Privileged Planet and Unlocking the Mystery of Life, are the

two most important works for ID, or intelligent design, for the

layman like me, that I know of.

The Privileged Planet looks at the Earth in the context of the solar system

and the Milky Way. An awesome revelation comes to the viewer

by the end of this DVD.

Likewise, Unlocking the Mystery of Life causes the viewer to see the obvious,

if it looks like design, smells like design, and walks like design...

Michael Behe is the driving force behind this look at life from the molecular

level, and how the first proteins couldn't possibly have been assembled

without God's instruction code, and how ludicrous it is to think life somehow

started spontaneously in the proverbial "primordial soup" (a little of this,

a little of that, a bolt of lightening, poof!).

Both DVD's are too incredible for words.

Confession is essential

Confession

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

The Bible book in which this glorious promise is given was written entirely to the saint of God, not to the unbelieving sinner.

Confession is what saints do when they sin.
Repentance is what sinners do before they become saints.
Confession is agreement (identity) with the sin against God.
Repentance is reversal (changed mind) to trust (from me to God).

Psalm 51 is a classic prayer of confession. King David poured out his heart of sorrow for the terrible affair with Bathsheba, and yearned for God to "wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin" (Psalm 51:2). David acknowled that "against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight" (Psalm 51:4). He confessed his sin, and asked God, "restore unto me the joy of thy salvation" (Psalm 51:12).

Three of the Gospels record the declaration of Jesus that "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance" (Mark 2:17). Repentance is not an apology for specific sins, it is a heart-mind-soul turning from self-righteous sufficiency to God's holiness. It is the lost that repent, not the saved: "|J|oy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance" (Luke 15:7).

One day, however,"every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father"(Philippians 2:11). Far better to repent in sorrow today than confess in terror at the Judgment. HMM III
